A Change Is Gonna Come- Jason Castro future Potential
Posted by paganmedia on May 8, 2008
This week American Idol’s theme, was rock and roll hall of fame! This was a decisive and tough time for the final four. The top four are at a point in the competition that will either make them or break them. To avoid elimination the top four would have to be very sure of the songs that they choose and how they deliver them. David Archuletta, Syesha Mercado and David Cook all stepped up to the mic battled and went for glory to perhaps become this years American Idol. Jason Castro did not battle, he just sang as if he was hanging out with friends, goofing around. Having said that, I do not think that Jason really realized the potential position he was in for his future. I also do not think that Jason believed in himself enough as much as he should have.

This week David Archuletta stood his ground and delivered “Stand by Me” by Ben E King and “Love Me Tender” by the late great Elvis Presley. David’s Love me Tender was fantastic, this is the type of song that has the young girls crying out of joy of hearing their idol sing love. David has proven this season that he was here for a reason and planned to stay the season.
Syesha Mercado came out with Ike and Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary” and “A change Is Gonna Come by the late great Sam Cooke. A Change certainly did come, with Syesha and she has proven why she is in the final three and has a chance at Idol title. Syesha sang both songs extremley well.
David Cook sang Duran Duran’s “Hungry like a wolf” and “Baba O’ Reilly” by the Who. As usual, David comes out, delivers with precise perception, thrills the viewers, takes his bows and proves why he has long been established in this competition as an Idol contender.
Last but not least Jason Castro, sang “The late great Bob Marley’s ” I shot the Sheriff”, and Jason selected Bob Dylan’s “Mr. Tambourine Man. Jason performances were ok, but unfortunatley ok does not reserve a spot for final three and a step closer to a shot at idol title.
When the competitors get to the final four spot, it is usually a time of reckoning. This is the point in the competition that the idolteers start defining their genres and what they aspire to as singers. Jason said that it was his inexperience that led him. I tend to agree with his statement, had Jason Castro been more experienced and better organized with his vocal arrangement he may have sailed right to the final two. What competitors have to realize is that the voters will not be as generous of forgetting the lyrics or their vocal prowess at this point of the competition. The truth is the American Idol voters do take their voting privileges and who they would like to see win Idol title seriously. The reason they do is that when the new American Idol is crowned, most of the viewers do intend to buy the Albums that the newly crowned American Idol releases.
Jason Castro was eliminated, but having said that, I still think that once Jason settles his nerves down, and gets very serious about a music career, that he would do very well. He has the vocals he just needs to hone in on them and fine-tune his vocals. He also needs to realize even if he aspires to a song of one his favourite artists, that his vocals do not always reach those ranges. Once Jason Castro positions his music genre, he potentially can reach quite a wide audience. Good luck to Jason with his future music aspirations.
Maroon 5 was on the idol stage this week, singing “If I Never See Your Face Again “,
This year’s final three is going to be difficult to choose on who will be the final two and who will win Idol Title. David Archuletta, Syesha Mercado and David Cook have really delivered each performance. For the first time in American Idol history, it really is not definite at who will be in the final two or even who will win. Usually at this point, of the competition, most of us can define and predict the final two and who will most likely win it. Not this year! Unless one of the top three really blows it with their song choices or performances, it is anybody’s win at this point. The final three’s performances, vocal arrangement and song selection will be on the line. They must come out and give it their all. Good luck to David A, Syesha M, and David C. Each of the final three deserve to be where they are in his point of the competiation.
Bo Bice was back on the Idol Stage singing “Witness” from his album. Bo Bice’s wife is also expecting their second child a boy. So now there will Bo Bice and Bo Bice Jr.
This week Paula continues to inspire us with her critiques. I like that new Paula Abdul because she is actually giving her opinion, not Simon’s or Randy’s opinion. That is very good to see, keep expressing Paula and very well done. Randy Jackson is not wavering in his opinions either, in previous seasons Randy at times did parrot Simon. Simon is virtually standing alone and we all know Simon’s opinions are what they are and he is not going to change them amidst the boo’s.
Speaking of Simon, I think that he is paying people to call in and flatter him immensely. Lately the questions to Simon have been ones that only serve to stroke his rather large ego and have it grow bigger. Come on now, questions of why he has not been knighted, can you imagine having to call Simon Cowell “Sir Simon Cowell” or telling him, he is sexy. I thought that Simon was going to orbit right out of the building to the nearest cloud. Having said that, Simon’s work with Idol gives back and other humanitairian causes, may get him knighted much to my chagrin. The Queen could very well call on Simon to be knighted based on his humanitarian work not his Idol Judge fame. I think if Simon is knighted we may not be able to see the idol performances in the future, we would only be able to see Simons’ big head. On the other hand, would find it hilarious if host Ryan Seacrest had to address Simon as “Sir”. Ryan of course has other problems right now; he still is looking like he is going to a funeral instead of hosting a popular reality show.
The final three sing-off should be good next week, it will be a battle for final two spot. It would also be nice if American Idol announced each week, how Idol Gives back fundraising is doing!
Read my article on Madeline McCann missing for one year today and on the plight of other missing children who were abducted, child abuse and in some cases the children being murdered
Each week I will be writing an article on those children that are missing, have been murdered and featuring a child that is missing.

The last time we heard, American Idol raised over 65 million dollars towards child poverty. This is inspirational and the money raised has saved lives. Thank-you!
