SATSUMA, Fla. — More than 130 law enforcement personnel from several local and state agencies are searching for a 5-year-old girl who disappeared from her home in Satsuma before dawn Tuesday.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings was last seen at 10 p.m. Monday when her father’s girlfriend put her to bed at their home on Green Lane, off Buffalo Bluff Road.

While deputies and state officers from at least five agencies searched the area and the nearby St. Johns River, Haleigh’s grieving father told Channel 4 there is no doubt in his mind that she was abducted and he’ll do anything to get her back.

Ronald Cummings said Haleigh is afraid of the dark and there’s no way she would have gone out in the middle of the night by herself.

“I came home this morning to find that I didn’t have a child,” Cummings. “Somebody stole my child.”

Putnam County deputies began a search of the area at 3:30 a.m. after the mother found the girl missing and Cummings came home from working a night shift and found back door of their mobile home open and called 911.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued an endangered/missing alert before 9 a.m. Less than two hours later, authorities upgraded it to an Amber Alert.

While Putnam County deputies said there was no sign of forced entry in the residence, they requested that the FDLE elevate the incident to an Amber Alert.
Putnam County deputies, with help from officer from neighboring counties and state agencies stopped and searched cars leaving the neighborhood where Haleigh disappeared.

“When you’re dealing with a child of this young of an age along with the time frame that the child has been gone, that elevates it to a higher level and that causes us a little more of a concern for the welfare and safety of the child,” Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Steve Rose said.

Rose said that while they have no reason to suspect foul play, deputies went door to door and searched cars leaving the neighborhood and contacted known sex offenders in the area to establish their whereabouts. They also brought K-9 unit in to track any leads.

“Whoever has the child is not supposed to have the child at this point,” Putnam County Detective John Merchant said during an afternoon news conference.

St. Johns and Volusia counties sent resources to help and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has contributed two boats and a helicopter to the search. A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office search boat is also helping out.

Late afternoon, authorities announced that the FBI was sending a team to join the investigation.

Haleigh is described as having blond hair and brown eyes, is 3 feet tall and weighs 39 pounds. She was last seen in the Hermit’s Cove area of Satsuma wearing a pink shirt and underwear.

Channel 4 learned that a 2-year-old and a 17-year-old cousin were sleeping in the same bedroom as Haleigh. They are both safe and detectives said the teenager had no information about what happened to Haleigh.

Haleigh’s mother, who lives in south Georgia, went to Satsuma on Tuesday and was cooperating in the search.

Authorities ask anyone with any information to call the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at 386-329-0800 or the FDLE’s Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse at 888-FL-MISSING.

“Please call and give (information) to the police department,” Cummings said. “J just want my child back.”

Has it been a year already? Well American Idol has opened it’s 8th season to another year. The auditions gave us our usual round of bright moments for those that could really sing and those that came on with gimmicks. We had begging, crying, whining and cheers of joy in the audition and Hollywood rounds of the season. We also had a dose of smut with Bikini girl. I am just wondering is American Idol PG rated, because it should have been with Bikini Girl. I am sorry but the title American Idol says to me and other fans that it is about ” an image of representation for America”. I don’t think that a young girl in a bikini with her arse hanging out represents the idols of America. I also think that the producers of the show and Fox should take great strides and care not to shatter the image of what is truly the icons of American Idols.

I usually don’t write about the auditions or Hollywood round, but after having to put up with Bikini Girl once more, I felt I had no choice. I was hoping Bikini girl who is not that great of a talent would be dismissed and fired out of the Hollywood Round. That is not the case and it is not because both Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson are thinking with their crown jewels and not with their brain. No matter what critique Bikini Girl “who comes across as a self indulgent rude twit,” gets she flutters and flirts with Simon. Yo Simon! I hate to burst your huge ego, but since your break-up with Teri, some of these women are finding your bank account and fame attractive not your shining personality or character. A character which I personally liken to that of a boa constrictor, an enraged rabbit tiger and the fabled character of the Grinch. if you think some of these women really like you, think it over, they really like what you have in your bank account along with your fame.

Then of course there is Ryan Seacrest whom it was reported thought he was so important that he wanted AI to pay for helicopter transportation to and from different sets if you please. Ryan did not want to wait in traffic in a nice air conditioned limo. No that was not good enough for Mr I think I am bigger than big. Psst Ryan don’t be so stupid in that self evaluation of yours, you are really deluding yourself. No doubt the American Idol execs, had a good laugh and advised Ryan he better simmer down. Among other American Idol tidbits, Simon yes Simon Cowell broke up with his long time girlfriend Teri Seymour. Simon lamented that he is married to his job and simply does not want the commitment of marriage to a woman or children. Way to break Simon! With Simon broken up and still wearing his drabbed uninspiring attire, we also see Paula Abdul and the new AI Judge Kara DioGuardi vying for Simon’s attention.

In one segment Kara said that she was waiting for Simon to try something with her and kiss her, than we had Paula move in and sit on Simon’s lap. Simon looked at Paula and said, ” it’s been a long time” Yuck, Cough, Shudder, Pleaseeeeeeeeeeee spare us the showmance, we want to see talented singers not if and when Paula, Kara or Bikini girl will sit on Simon’s lap and get a smooch from him. If American Idol execs have any bloody mercy they will put a stop to this insult on our viewing screens immediately.

On another note, it was reported that Simon was cursed by a witch for kicking her off the British show Britain’s Got Talent! Show. Way to vex someone Simon.

Between Bikini Girl, Paula, Kara and the curse, what more theatrics will we get from American Idol that is deemed a ” FAMILY SHOW”!

American Idol also does a great thing for humanity in” Idol gives back, which I am a big supporter and fan of this act of human kindness”. I would hate to think that the image of American Idol show and the competitors would be marred by such acts of disgrace and a real thrashing of human dignity and self respect. Especially in this time in history and economic hindrance. Last but not least American Idol, their judges and the competitors should be reminded and remember that ” Children watch this show”! Bring on the talent and do away with the gimmicks and crass displays of smut and stupidity. This is a singing contest not a job interview at hooters.

A Statement by the Asian Human Rights Commission

Ms. Zarina Marri, a 23-year-old schoolteacher from Balochistan province, was arrested in late 2005, and has been held incommunicado in an army torture cell at Karachi, the capital of Sindh province. She has been repeatedly raped by the military officers and is being used as a sex slave, to induce arrested nationalist activists to sign state-concocted confessions.

One man, who was arrested by a state agency and kept in military torture cell almost for nine months, narrated the story of this young woman to Reporters Without Borders (Reporters Sans Frontières, RSF); nowpublic.com; the International Red Cross; and at Woolwich Court in London. The current whereabouts of the young woman are not known. It has been asserted that women who are fighting for the greater autonomy of Balochistan are being arrested by the state agencies and being forced into sex slavery in their custody.

Mr. Munir Mengal, the managing director of a Balochi-language television channel, was arrested on April 4, 2006 from Karachi International airport by the state intelligence agencies and transferred to a military torture cell in Karachi for nine months (http://www.ahrchk.net/ua/mainfile.php/2006/1666/). He narrated the story of the forced sex slavery of the young teacher Zarina Marri whom he encountered in a military cell. According to the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Mr. Munir Mengal witnessed many human rights violations in this military prison. Mengal says that, “a young Balochi woman, Ms. Zarina Marri, was used as a sexual slave by the officers. They even once threw her naked into my cell. I did not know what had happened to this mother of a family who was arrested by the army in our province.”

Another Balochi nationalist (name omitted by request), who was arrested by the military intelligence agency twice and kept in military cells in different cities, has confirmed to the AHRC that there were young Balochi females seen at those two torture cells, naked and in distress. The prominent Balochi nationalist leaders say that they know fact that young Balochi women are being arrested, either during or after protest demonstrations on the disappearances and are missing. They also know about the women are sexually abused in the military custody but they cannot say so publically because of their sanctity and harassment of their families.

Mr. Munir Mengal was also tortured and his penis was severely injured when he refused to have sex with Zarina Marri. He told RSF, “on 27th January, 2007 at 6 pm Major Iqrar Gul Niazi (Military Intelligence) called me in his office and showed me some nude pictures, and laughingly told me that you have been a director of a TV channel so certainly you have good relations with actresses.”

When he returned to his cell he found porn pictures strewn all over it. Around 12 pm a low-ranking military officer called Subedar brought a female there. She was trembling and weeping. “He threw her on my body and told me, ‘You know what to do with her. You are not a child we have to tell what to do with her.’” Mr. Mengal says after half an hour the officer returned, and seeing them sitting apart, abused them and forcibly took off their clothes. Mengal said he was stunned when the woman began praying in the Balochi language. She told Mengal her name was Zarina Marri and that she belongs to the Kohlu area, headquarters of the rebel Marri tribe, a scene of a bloody insurgency that begun in 2005. She said she was a schoolteacher and that the army personnel had abducted her along with her one-year-old.

“They accuse us for spying for the Baluchistan Liberation Army,” Zarina Marri said. She begged Mengal to kill her. “I have been undressed several times for them.”

Mengal said on the refusal to have sex, the intelligence officials inflicted cuts on his private parts. “I thought I would lose my manhood,” he said. Ms. Zarina told to Mengal that she has seen some females in the torture cell but was not allowed to talk with them.

At the time of this incident Colonel Raza of the Pakistani Army was in charge of that cell. After a few days he was transferred to Rawalpindi, Punjab province and Colonel Abdul Malik Kashmiri came as head of the military torture cell.

Mr. Munir Mengal was released from the military torture cell on 4th August 2007 and was held in a civilian jail on August 5th. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) representatives met him in Khuzadar jail, where he provided them with a detailed briefing which they wrote down. The next day their doctor also checked the injured portion of his penis. Mr. Andrew Barterlays, the officer of ICRC who visited Mr. Mengal several times in jail, told Mr. Mengal that until he was out of custody the ICRC could not take up the issue of Zarina Marri, because both their lives would be threatened.

The Asian Human Rights Commission has already reported that 52 torture cells are run by the Pakistan army, please see following link (http://www.ahrchk.net/statements/mainfile.php/2008statements/1574/), Karachi was stated to have three military torture cells. The testimony by Mr. Munir Mengal has revealed the most heinous methods of army torture, using young women as sex slaves to induce political opponents to sign the government-concocted confessions of terrorist and anti-state activity.

The AHRC severely condemns the use of women as sex slaves by the Pakistan army and for keeping these women incommunicado. Pakistan is the signatory to Convention on the Elimination of All Forms Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) but women are being used as sex slaves in a gross violation of the Convention by army officers.

The AHRC urges the government of Pakistan to immediately hold a judicial investigation into the women detainees being used as sex slaves by the army officers in their detention centers, and to arrest all the army officers posted in the torture cells; both in Karachi and in the rest of Pakistan. The perpetrators of these heinous crimes must be brought before the law. The government should ascertain the whereabouts of the women arrested from Balochistan province who have disappeared after their arrest, including Zarina Marri. It is the duty of the government to search for the missing persons taken by State intelligence agencies, who have held them in torture cells for many years.

Pakistan proudly calls itself the Islamic Democratic State but its rulers appear to lack the courage to bring its own military into check. It is a military that engages in torture and some of the most heinous methods of breaking the spirit of those that it considers the enemy, it is a military that pays no heed to the norms of civilised behaviour and is one that, if not brought to book will convert Pakistan into a barbaric state.
